June 13, 2024 Update:
Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope your summer is off to a great start. We are writing to inform you that at its meeting on Tuesday, the Hanover County School Board approved several changes to the 2024-25 school calendar.
Please note the following:
- Report cards will now be distributed on Thursday, October 31 (previously Friday, November 1).
- Friday, November 1 is now a student holiday for parent-teacher conferences (previously Monday, November 4).
- Monday, November 4 is now a professional learning day for teachers and instructional assistants, and remains a student holiday. This additional professional learning day supports our educators in the completion of required literacy instruction professional learning modules.
- Tuesday, November 5 remains a student-teacher holiday for Election Day.

Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
At its meeting last night, the Hanover County School Board unanimously approved the 2024-25 school year calendar. The approved calendar can be found
on our website.
Please note that the approved calendar includes the following:
- A staggered start to the school year
similar to the past four school years.
- Students in Kindergarten, First Grade, Sixth Grade, and Ninth Grade will start on Monday, August 19, and all students will go to school on Tuesday, August 20.
- Two full weeks of Winter Break (December 23 through January 3) and three full weekends.
- Spring Break from March 31 through April 4.
- The last day of school will be Friday, May 30.
The 2024-25 calendar was developed by a committee of parents, teachers, support employees, and administrators who considered many factors, including the valuable feedback from our families, faculty, and staff.
