Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope you are having a great week. We are writing today with important information and an opportunity for input regarding the 2023-24 school calendar.
Proposed 2023-24 Calendar
At last night’s School Board meeting, the Calendar Committee presented
the proposed calendar for the 2023-24 school year, which is now open for public comment.
The proposed calendar includes the following:
- A staggered start to the school year
similar to the past three school years. Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Grade, Third Grade at John M. Gandy Elementary School only, Sixth Grade, and Ninth Grade would start on Monday, August 21, and all students would go to school on Tuesday, August 22.
- Two
Flexible Learning Days (Monday, November 6 and Wednesday, March 6);
- Two full weeks of Winter Break (December 25 through January 5); and
- Spring Break the first full week of April
The proposed calendar was developed by a committee of parents, teachers, support employees, and administrators and in coordination with the other major school divisions in the metro-Richmond area.
