Inclement Weather Message: Jan. 19, 2022
Posted on 01/19/2022
HCPS LogoDear Families, Faculty, and Staff,

Our team is closely monitoring the inclement weather that is approaching our county and may last several days. Snow is forecasted to impact portions of our county tomorrow during the school day and temperatures are expected to fall as the day progresses. While the total impact is unclear, we are expecting slick roadways in the afternoon, which will likely affect our buses, our employees, and our student drivers, as well as limit our parents’ ability to transport their children in a timely manner. In an effort to allow you to plan well in advance and avoid an emergency closure during the school day tomorrow, we are going to err on the side of caution.

Accordingly, out of an abundance of caution and in preparation for this inclement weather, HCPS will have a two-hour early closing on Thursday, January 20. This includes the Online School and applies to all faculty and staff. All afterschool activities and events, including athletics and field trips, are canceled.

As a reminder, our early closing schedule is as follows:

Elementary

12:20 p.m.: JGES
12:30 p.m.: BPES, BES, CHES, EES, HCES, KCES, OES, PCES, PGES, RPES, SAES, WHES
12:45 p.m.: CSES, LMES, MES

Secondary

1:45 p.m.

We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff. We hope that sharing this information well in advance is helpful to you as you begin making the necessary arrangements.

We will communicate any decisions about a school delay and/or cancellation that may be necessary on Friday as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Stay safe, warm, and healthy,
