Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We hope you are enjoying your weekend. As you may already be aware, Governor Northam announced additional changes on Friday to
Executive Order 72 that are now in effect. The new directive was issued in response to and
aligns with recent CDC guidance regarding the easing of mask-wearing measures by individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Please be assured that we will carefully evaluate these updates to determine what, if any, modifications we need to make to our health mitigation measures as a school division, whether it’s sports, performing arts, or otherwise. As always, we will be methodical in our approach and comply with all legal requirements. In the meantime,
please note that the new state directive still requires that all students, teachers, staff, and visitors wear a mask over their nose and mouth while on school property, even if fully vaccinated, as outlined on page 15 of
Executive Order 72 (section II, subsection E).
This is due to the low vaccination rates currently among children. We hope this eliminates any uncertainty or confusion you may have in this regard.
As a reminder,
starting this week, we will be holding COVID-19 vaccine clinics at all four of our middle schools that are available to all HCPS students ages 12 and older. If you would like your child to receive a vaccine or to learn more, please visit
our website.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we navigate the pandemic and provide for the safety, health, and well-being of everyone. As always, we will continue to share any additional updates or changes that may be necessary.
Thank you.
