Community Use of HCPS Facilities Update

We hope you have had a great summer. We are writing today to update you on our facility use procedures by community groups.

As we shared with you last month, we took this summer to press reset on our facilities, engaging in deep cleaning, working on various construction projects, and getting our schools ready to welcome even more students back to in-person learning in the fall, among other things.

We are pleased to share with you that we plan to resume the normal use of our facilities by external organizations as it existed prior to the pandemic, effective September 7, the first day of school. As always, you will need to fill out a facility use request prior to using our facilities. If you have any questions, please contact Facilities Director Ed Buzzelli.

Please note that face masks are required while indoors on school property under a statewide Public Health Order from Virginia’s Health Commissioner. Failure to comply with this requirement or any other COVID-19 mitigation requirements in place at the time of your usage will result in future denial of facility use requests.

Additionally, please note that in the event of additional state or federal COVID-19 restrictions, we may need to revert back to restricting outside use of our facilities. We will provide you with any updates that may be necessary in this regard.
