Inclement Weather Update: Feb. 11, 2025

Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Hanover County until 1 p.m. tomorrow, and our team continues to carefully evaluate conditions. Our valued partners with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office
have shared that multiple accidents have occurred and have advised county residents to stay home and avoid traveling if possible. The combination of snow, sleet, and freezing rain are expected to continue to create hazardous driving conditions this evening and tomorrow. This includes for our buses, student drivers, families, and staff.
As a result,
HCPS will be CLOSED on Wednesday, February 12. Employees use Code 6. At the earliest possible time, only designated emergency personnel report to work. All other employees work remotely as able.
We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff. We hope that sharing this information well in advance is helpful to you as you begin to make the necessary arrangements.
As
we shared earlier today,
tomorrow’s school closure does not require an adjustment to the 2024-25 school calendar. The next inclement weather day (the ninth this school year) would be a Remote Learning Day. More information regarding the 2024-25 calendar and school closures will be shared soon.
Please be assured that we will continue to closely evaluate the forecast and conditions and will communicate any further school delays or closings that may be necessary as quickly as possible.
As always, we appreciate your support. Thank you.
Stay safe and warm,
Hanover County Public Schools
