Inclement Weather Update: Dec. 8, 2025

Inclement Weather UpdateDear Families, Faculty, and Staff,

We hope you are warm and well. Snow continues to impact our county, which remains under a Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service until 10 p.m. tonight. Temperatures well below freezing are forecasted overnight, preventing snow from melting and causing icy conditions. This is expected to create hazardous travel conditions for our buses, student drivers, staff, and families.

As a result, HCPS will be CLOSED on Tuesday, December 9. Employees use Code 6. At the earliest possible time, only designated personnel report to work. All other employees work remotely as able. Please note that any designated employees who may be needed will be contacted directly by their supervisor.

Please note that all after-school activities and events are canceled for Tuesday, December 9. We will communicate any further delays or closures that may be necessary as quickly as possible.

We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff. We hope that sharing this information well in advance is helpful to you as you begin to make the necessary arrangements.

Please be assured that our goal is to get our students and staff back to school as safely and quickly as possible, recognizing the impact of extended closures on our community. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this inclement weather.

Please also note that a communication is forthcoming regarding the impact of tomorrow’s school closure on the 2025-26 school calendar. Please stay tuned.

As always, we appreciate your support. Thank you.

Stay safe and warm,
