Gold Card Program
Hanover County Public Schools is proud to offer
the HCPS Gold Card Program as a way to welcome and thank senior members of our community for their continued support of our schools.
Hanover County residents age 62 and older are eligible to receive a Gold Card at no cost, providing free admission to many activities held on HCPS campuses throughout Hanover County. Gold Card holders can enjoy a wide variety of opportunities to support our outstanding students, including regular-season athletic contests, drama and musical productions, and arts events. If you have questions regarding an event, please contact the school directly.
Please note the following:
- Eligible retired HCPS employees age 55 and older may also apply following verification by the HCPS Human Resources Department.
- Gold Cards never expire.
- Gold Cards are non-transferrable.
- Gold Cards do not provide free admission to adult education classes or Virginia High School League (VHSL) playoff events.
- Only one card may be issued per eligible applicant.
- Identification may be required when entering an event.
- For the performing arts, Gold Cards do not cover sold-out shows, booster-funded special events, or post-season tournament events where external royalties or fees apply.
- Gold Cards must be returned if the cardholder moves from Hanover County and may be revoked for failure to comply with the program's conditions.
To receive a Gold Card, eligible residents must complete the following steps:
- Submit an Application: Complete the online application. Please allow two business days for processing prior to pick up at your selected location.
- Pick Up Your Gold Card: Once approved, visit any HCPS high school or the HCPS Central Office (200 Berkley Street, Ashland) to receive your card. Please bring a photo ID to verify your identity.
