Inclement Weather Update: Feb. 18, 2025

Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,
Our team is closely monitoring the forecasted inclement weather that is approaching Hanover County and any impact that it may have. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Hanover County beginning at 6 a.m. Wednesday with snowfall expected to begin tomorrow during the morning commute, creating hazardous travel conditions for our buses, student drivers, families, and staff. Additionally, the state of emergency declared by the Governor last week for inclement weather remains in effect.
As a result,
HCPS will be CLOSED on Wednesday, February 19. Students will learn remotely. Employees use Code 6. At the earliest possible time, only designated personnel report to work. All other employees work remotely as able.
While our schools and offices will be closed, tomorrow will be a Remote Learning Day across the school division. We will share more detailed information soon regarding remote learning. In the meantime, we encourage you to read
last week’s message if you have not done so already. Again, more specific information will be shared very soon.
We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff. We hope that sharing this information well in advance is helpful to you as you begin to make the necessary arrangements.
Please be assured that we will continue to closely evaluate conditions and will communicate any further school delays or closings that may be necessary as quickly as possible.
As always, we appreciate your support. Thank you.
Stay safe and warm,
Hanover County Public Schools
