Original February 12 Message:

Dear Families, Faculty, and Staff,

We hope you are warm and well. Our team has continued to carefully evaluate road and weather conditions. The Winter Storm Warning for Hanover County has expired as snow and freezing rain have stopped. While the inclement weather has created adverse travel conditions in portions of our county, road conditions have improved considerably and are expected to continue to improve with warmer temperatures in the forecast.

As a precaution and to allow our team sufficient time to fully assess real-time travel conditions, our facilities, and our buses, HCPS will be opening on a two-hour delay for students only on Thursday, February 13. All HCPS staff are to report on time.

Please note that a two-hour delay is intended to allow HCPS staff additional time to further assess conditions and make a final determination on whether or not to open the school division. We will communicate any additional closings or delays that may be necessary as quickly as possible so you can begin making the necessary arrangements for your student.

We understand this is disruptive and sincerely appreciate your patience as we work to make the best possible decisions for our students and staff.

As always, we appreciate your support. Thank you.

Stay safe and warm,
Hanover County Public Schools
