Virginia Board of Education guidelines for family life education states that a community involvement team, or school health advisory board, shall be identified and should include individuals such as a person from the central office, an elementary school principal, a middle school principal, a high school principal, teachers, a school board member, parents, one or more members of the clergy, a member of the medical profession, and others in the community.
The Community Involvement Team’s (CIT) purpose is to advise the school board of the education needs of all students in the division based on family life state requirements. The team shall review annual opt-out data, professional learning for staff, updates for the upcoming school year curriculum, and the proposed teaching schedule.
